The right order to apply skincare: Cleanse, Tone and Moisturise
Start with consulting a skincare specialist to determine your skin type. Skincare products vary widely depending on whether your skin is oily, dry or sensitive, so knowing your skin type is important before purchasing any product.
Once you understand what your skin needs, you can choose cleansing, toning and moisturising products that suit you best.
Cleansing is the first step of any good skincare routine. It removes all traces of makeup, dirt, sweat and oil that might have built up through the day. Remember, always, to first wash your hands before touching your face. Use lukewarm water to wash your face; this will help loosen the dirt and unclog your pores. Apply the cleanser with your fingers in a gentle circular motion, and finally, rinse thoroughly with cool water. Improper cleansing routines can cause breakouts, so it is important to pay close attention to this step. Once done, pat your skin dry with a clean towel.
Toning is a step that most of us skip, without realizing its importance. Toning plays a vital role in skin care; it helps refresh and brighten the skin and restore its natural pH levels, which might have been altered during cleansing. It removes any final traces of makeup or dirt and tightens the pores, protecting the skin from bacteria and toxins. Apply the toner with a cotton ball, using small upward strokes. In case you have very dry skin, try an alcohol-free toner.
Moisturising keeps your skin soft, supple and hydrated. It is the secret to delaying early signs of ageing and boosting skin elasticity. For added benefit, use a moisturiser with SPF. This will keep your skin moisturized and protect it from harmful UV rays.
Routine matters. Although, the 'Cleanse, Tone and Moisturise' routine may seem like hard work at first, it will really only take you a few minutes and will leave your skin feeling fresh, hydrated and nourished.
