How to wake those tired eyes up?

What really makes us look so worn out is the skin around our eyes. This layer is our most delicate layer of skin so if it isn’t cared for properly, it is prone to dryness, fine lines, puffiness and dark circles. All of which can leave us looking exhausted. So how do you wake up tired eyes? Here are a few simple and easy tips to put the sparkle back in your eyes.

A feast for your eyes

Eating healthy is a must if you want to keep your skin looking fresh and supple. The right diet can also help you avoid red-rimmed eyes. A diet with a high amount of refined sugars may cause skin to age prematurely. So stick to low-carb foods for fresher, clearer eyes. Water-rich fruits, vegetables, wild seafood also help prevent tissue inflammation.  Adding a daily essential fatty acid (EFA) fish oil supplement high in omega-3s is very beneficial.

Stay hydrated

Dehydration can cause puffiness around your eyes. Under-eyes bags are caused by the retention of water due to a high concentration of salt in the area.  Drinking water helps flush out the excess salt. Take care to stay away from dehydrating drinks like coffee and alcohol too.

Remove all eye makeup

Sure, we all know that sleeping with make up on is just gross but what you may not know is that makeup residue can settle into the fine lines and folds of eyes overnight, increasing redness and inflammation. By cleansing throughly, skin cells are able to more effectively replenish themselves during your sleep cycle.

Sleep if off Getting the right amount of sleep can work wonders for your eyes. Stick to getting about 8 hours of sleep. It is also recommended that you maintain a regular sleep cycle. It prevents weakening of the capillaries under your eyes so they look fresh and bright.

Try Kaya’s Aqua Eye peel

Moisture and natural acids are a bright eyed beauty’s best friends.  Glycolic peels break apart the dead cell layer and bring fresher skin to the surface, reducing pigmentation around the eyes and waking them up. This service also makes the under-eye area firmer while supplying it with additional hydration.

Apply eye cream

Use your ring finger to tap on Kaya’s Lighten and Smooth Under Eye Gel to keep the eye area dewy-looking. It promotes firmness and targets dark circles and puffiness all day.

Use a cold spoon to wake eyes

Try this trick that celebrities swear by: Refrigerate a spoon overnight, or chill it in a cup of ice. Then using the curved backside, gently massage the under eye area in an outward motion. The cold metal constricts blood vessels and drains fluid out from under the eye to immediately reduce puffiness.

Conceal like a pro

Find a concealer with peach undertones (this cancels the darkness) and warm it between your fingers. Tap into undereyes and use a buffing brush to blend it seamlessly into your skin. A concealer layered over your favourite eyecream does double the duty!

Talk to an expert

Since under-eye skin is so delicate, it’s always best to consult with an expert about any skincare treatments or products you use on the area. This way, you can find the right kind of products for your skin type and keep your eyes clear and free from redness.
