How To Keep Acne Under Control During The Summer

Acne happens to be one of the most dreaded skin issues throughout the year. And this issue just gets worse by the time summer rolls around. With all the summer fun, comes excessive sweating and exposure to the UVA and UVB rays. Sweat and dead skin cells clog pores which is one of the major causes of acne. This intensifies during the summer season.

Formation Of Acne

How the acne forms on our skin is a long process. Our face is covered with pores where our hair follicles are. These pores connect our top skin layer to the underlying sebaceous gland, which is responsible for the production of sebum in our skin.

Occasionally, the sebaceous gland produces too much sebum, and that clogs the pores. Clogged with sebum, dead skin cells and bacteria, one would experience swelling and inflammation around the pore. Sometimes these inflammations also include pus and hence, the pimple and acne come into being.

During the summer, people often experience excessive oiliness, and that leads to the whole process of acne all over again.

What Triggers Acne In Summer?

1. The Sun

We know that acne is the result of pores being clogged by excess sebum. But often, the sun can also dry the skin out. In the process, it thickens the outer layer of the skin, which also ends up clogging the pores, and the inevitable acne occurs.

2. Oil Based Makeup

In the summer, it is common for people to want to go out – whether it be for parties, dinners or just good old fashioned meet ups. Many-a-times, people wear makeup for these events. The excessive use of oil based makeup adds to the clogging of pores that are present on your skin. The bacteria formed because of these clogged pores, leads to the formation of acne. It is important therefore, to wear water based makeup when going out or better yet, try to wear as little makeup as possible. Trust us, your skin will thank you for it.

CTM For Acne In Summer

For those who often complain of acne prone skin, it is crucial for you to constantly take care of your skin through beauty regimens. We have heard of the good old CTM (Cleansing-Toning-Moisturizing) routines since time immemorial, a super effective way to control acne.

The CTM routine is a beauty treatment that all women should do on a daily basis to keep their skins in top shape. It essentially consists of 3 steps:

1. Cleansing

This process is where the skin is cleared of any makeup, dirt, grime and impurities from the skin that is accumulated over the whole day. For this step, we suggest the Kaya Purifying Cleanser, which is specially designed for acne-prone skin.

2. Toning

This is a crucial step in the routine as toning helps in removing excess oil, grime and dirt from the root and control the sebum production. Alcohol-Free toners help in maintain the skin’s pH balance and repair the skin from within. We suggest the Kaya Purifying Toner, an alcohol-free toner formulated for acne-prone skin.

3.Moisturizing

This is the final step in the process where the moisture in the skin is locked in for supple and glowing skin. We suggest the Kaya Purifying Nourisher, which is a mild moisturizer made for acne-prone skin.

With the CTM routine in your day-to-day lives, you can assure acne free skin that glows.
