This pattern provides only 25 to 30g of protein daily, which is less than half of the minimum requirement.
To optimise body composition, thyroid health, hair quality, and metabolic health, Indian vegetarians must consciously incorporate at least 2 to 3 different protein sources at every meal. This means adding soy chunks or paneer to lunch, having a protein-rich breakfast like dal chilla instead of poha, and keeping roasted chana or peanuts as a snack instead of biscuits.
I also want to emphasise that a whole-food-first approach is always superior to relying on protein powders. India has an incredible variety of affordable protein foods that have sustained our population for centuries. The key is not finding new protein sources, but simply eating enough of the ones we already have."
